In the memory of my mother, Asia Rosenfeld-Geltman,
who lived out the Leningrad siege, my uncles, Ben Zion Geltman
and Ilya Rosenfeld, who both perished on the Kursk-Orlov
front, as well as in the blessed memory of my grandmother, Lubov
Rosenfeld, who was murdered together with her children and
grandchildren in the Minsk ghetto.
I have been fortunate to have late Michael Dudin,
Vadim Shefner, Anatoly Chepurov, and Anatoly
Sorokin as my true friends and co-authors, who supported me for
years at the beginning of my career. I am deeply grateful to them.
